INTERMITTENT FASTING for Today's Aging Woman

Are you a woman who is between the ages of 40 and 55+ who is has struggled with the HIGHS and LOWS of dieting? Have you reached a point in your life where you feel like no matter what you try the weight is not coming off and you just aren’t feeling like yourself anymore? Are you feeling like this is as good as it is going to get for you?

Reality Check Time:

√ As a 50-year-old mother of two young kids (16 and 10) I don't have time to feel, look or act old. Whatever old is these days. I just don't have time for it.

√My body started falling apart on me.

•sudden weight gain
•hormonal body fat
•mood swings
•insomnia
•foggy brain
•you name it…. you are probably dealing with it right now.

The Tried and True DIETS that I had been following in my youth no longer worked for me. I couldn't just CUT CALORIES and CLEAN UP MY NUTRITION and have things magically fall back into place.

The real clincher for me was when I was diagnosed as a PRE-DIABETIC and I started showing all the symptoms of a FAILING THYROID. Add in sudden food intolerances, and before you know it, as much as you are trying to fight it, you are feeling, looking and acting old. Despite your best efforts.

In 2015, I started researching Intermittent Fasting but I just couldn't connect to all the 20 and 30 somethings that were in Social Media showcasing their version of Intermittent Fasting. Starving all day and partying all night, just wasn't my thing anymore, maybe 30 years ago.

But I was very interested in the idea of Intermittent Fasting because of how this younger generation was benefiting from that concept of FASTING. I mean FASTING has been around for years and years.

So I stayed off Social Media and turned to medical books and published research on Intermittent Fasting. Much to my surprise, there were so many health and Anti-Aging benefits to Intermittent Fasting that I never knew about.

In 2016, I made a promise to myself.
That promise was to use my time and energy to educate myself about the aging process and healthy ways to deal with it. Instead of spending money on co-pays and prescriptions I bought books. Instead of spending hours in doctor's offices I decided to research, educate and implement.

  • Great great video. I thought it was doing good using gum to keep my breath fresh, as I deal closely with the public all day. I go through several packs a week, so glad I listened to this. I will try to give it up, may have to break to brush my teeth throughout the day ;-). I’ve joined your November 4 course and can’t wait to learn more to make my life more authentic. So glad I discovered you Dy Ann! Thank you.

    • Peggy Fell thanks for being here with us. Water can actually freshen your breath pretty well throughout the day as well

    • How about using a mouth wash that is organic and low in sugar? The mouth wash can save teeth from the abrasion of tooth brushing.

  • Several months ago in a video you mentioned the four (?) really good reasons for IF, including 1) good to follow, day in and day out as a life style 2) IF really works and more……. I would like to re-view that video, but I can’t find it. Can you direct me to the episode please? It was an excellent presentation. Thanks!

    • Erika Joa , I don’t know what she means by fasted state.

However, I took a college-level anatomy and physiology class. The intestine’s (layperson’s term is small intestine) main job is to absorb the foods that have finished being broken down into nutrients. The colon’s main job is to absorb the water.

So to be truly fasting, a person would need to wait enough hours for the stomach and intestine to be empty.

  • Hey DyAnn…What Video can I watch to understand the difference between working out in a truly Fasted State vs on an Empty Stomach?

  • I just started fasting yesterday, I’m diabetic and I’m tired of taking meds and not getting better , I’m worst now after 10 yrs , my blood sugars are 270 in the morning and almost 500’s in the evening, i eat healthy and no processed foods and still can’t lower my sugar , so I decided to fast , does anyone have the same problem and have tried fasting ? Did it work, and when did you start noticing? Thank you

  • Thank you for these videos. I’m retired and my budget doesn’t allow me to take classes.

  • Thanks for sharing. Im 66yrs young. I do IF daily:21:3. Been doing this for years. Found out from Youtubers it is fad. I exercise 45min daily on elliptical and every other day strength training. My encouragement: your body adjust, if you”mess up” get back to your program, keep learning and improving whatever your program maybe. When i eat i try to make it as much as i want of nutrient dense foods. I do allow my undulgences ie sweet tea. Whoopi do what works for where you are. God has helped me design what works for me. Stay Blessed

  • Omgosh! I’m so glad to have found you today. I work at night and I am having having trouble finding a window that works. I want to start your course on May 4th but I gotta scare up the money. If not may 4th then definitely the next session. Will cinnamon in coffee make an insulin response. What do you do for bad breath at work? I find that toothpaste makes me hungry afterwards as bad as gum? I’m trying to avoid dragon breath when the day shift arrives. 😝

  • just did weights in a fasted state for the first time this am & I feel great! for years I was like you where I would get hypoglycaemic & had to eat every 3-4h and make sure I have snacks with me. I’m so thankful I’ve found a lifestyle that works 😁 thanks again for sharing such great info Dy Ann!

  • Thank you so much… I have been all over YouTube looking for the answers to all of my questions about intermittent fasting! This one suggestion about working out during the fast has really helped me get started correctly… I have been on a yo-yo diet it seems for four months now and I’ve only lost 5 pounds very discouraging… I am really hoping that this is finally what I’m going to need so far so good… And I signed up underneath you for the vegan shake that you suggested to break your fast with looking forward to getting that soon… Check your email

  • Hello, just found you a few days ago, I’ve watched a lot of your videos since, I’m excited that I’ve found something that could help me lose my menopause belly and start to feel full of energy again, I’m 62 and still have awful night sweats, I’m hoping this will help control these. I fasted for 20 hours yesterday, planning on doing the same today, 2lbs down on the scales this morning, still 20lbs to go. I feel like this is going to be a great help for me.

  • You always look like a million bucks but man do I love seeing these older videos because it’s so obvious that the last few years of consistent fasting have made you younger and younger!! You’re such an inspiration
