Gentle Stretching for Seniors, Beginner Exercisers

This gentle stretching workout will help improve your flexibility, circulation, and posture and relieve stress. It can be done any time of day and before or after any yes2next exercise video. Perfect for seniors and beginner exercisers.

As we age, it is more important to stretch regularly to combat the loss of mobility and flexibility that naturally happens. We recommend making stretching part of your daily routine — at least three times a week or everyday if you can.

  • Just getting started on a workout regime. I love this video. It’s something I can do even if I’ve had trouble with a more vigorous workout that I maybe had to stop. I feel like I’m still doing something good for me! Thank you!

    • YES!! Do something good for you! That’s the spirit. The fact that you are starting a workout regime is a cause for celebration. Just take it slow and at your own pace as you’re doing. You will build up strength and endurance over time — your body will get used to the activity and want to do more! Keep up the great work.

  • Love you videos. Started with the 25 minutes dance/walk one, have now added the gentle cardio and the stretches, so now doing nearly an hour a day. Fell so much better for it. Brilliant during lockdown. Thank you.

  • I really enjoy your simple work outs (& the cat). I love that you have “Mom” with you, and the way you look at her and sort of check up on her. I am also a senior citizen and kinda watch her as much as I watch you. I love the way you have just enough “banter” between you , not enough to distract, just right. Keep on doing what you do. (the photo is not me!!) P.S.-I notice that Mochi actually does some stretching, too–on Mom’s sneaker sometimes!!

    • Thank you for your kind words — we appreciate you being so observant! We are happy our videos are just right for you. You’re right – Mochi is really good at stretching. My mom is his cat mom and he loves to touch her sneakers like a little love tap. So sweet. Thank you for spending time with us! We look forward to seeing you soon! ❤️

  • Thank you so much for demonstrating these gentle stretches. I was having mobility problems due to my weight, but now that I am starting to shed some of the pounds, I really needed a way to ease back into moving. I look forward to watching more of your videos. And by the way, I love your cat… I have 2 cats myself! 😺

    • Thank you! So glad you joined us! You are doing great! Stretching is important to keep your muscles relaxed but strong! 👏 They will help to keep you moving and active to get fit. • Thank you very much for showing these gentle exercises and please…can you show some for thyroid strengthening too? Thanks in advance! Your all the videos are so…good and helpful, at my age of 81yrs! Thanks to both of you!!

    • Congratulations for making a commitment to get healthier and stronger! You are 81-years-young! It is important to check with your doctor on the right level of activity and exercises for you. In general, any strength training will help increase muscle mass and improve metabolism. We have a variety of strength training workouts — it is important to start slowly and gradually build up strength. It would be optimal to do 2 strength sessions a week that target all of your muscles. One option would be to start with our 5 minute workouts and build up from there: https://bit.ly/3sWJyD3 Please check with your doctor to see if these would be right for you. Wishing you good health and strength! Thank you for spending time with us! ❤️

This video has been part of that recovery. I appreciate your gentle approach and the inclusion of your mother. I’m not sure I could handle watching a gung-ho super jock every day for months on end, but I really enjoy joining you, your cat, and your mother.

  • Covid lockdowns and the associated fear of social contact have kept me from my usual outdoor activity and I find that I have lost a lot of physical confidence and core strength. I’m 81 and trying to regain muscle strength – my GP practice nurse tells me this is possible and its not too late, it’ll just take time and patience. I’m finding your stretching and warmup routines very helpful. I really appreciate your gentle and quiet approach and love your cat!
