Fat Storage vs Fat Loss During Menopause for Women Over 40

Fat Storage vs Fat Loss During Menopause for Women Over 40 is something you want to understand if you're trying to lose weight, or find you are gaining and can't figure out how to stop it.
Alcohol and other carbs – metabolize as sugar. That means blood sugar is up, insulin response is up, and with increased insulin resistance during menopause hormonal changes, the longer insulin is elevated the more you're putting your body in fat storage. There really is no "skinny" cocktail in midlife. Here's a quick – possibly unpopular – fact of midlife for women who like to drink but want to live long, lose weight, and stop accelerating aging.

  • Fortunately, alcohol has never been big for me. I can go half a year or more without having any or even notice I haven’t had any. I’m 61; postmeno I noticed that even a little messed with my sleep quality. Do NOT mess with my sleep! But, Lordy! I cannot budge this extra 10 pounds that’s come on in the last year – and now up to 30% body fat even with consistent resistance training! I am working with an ND to help with gut, thyroid, and suddenly – high bad cholesterol!! Phew! Committed to a year of daily meditation and started that a month ago to hopefully manage cortisol. I tell ya this is frustrating. Debra, how do you go about calculating how many calories and the macros for a lean build? My basal metabolic rate is 1305 according to one measure from the doc’s office.
