Intermittent fasting is the practice of consuming your daily calories during a shortened eating window. Doing this helps you stabilize blood sugar levels and naturally reduce your calorie intake, leading to more efficient weight loss. The challenge is that to get the benefits, you have to train your body to comfortably go for long periods without food.

That is not a small obstacle, given today’s 24/7 access to highly appetizing foods. But anyone can achieve it with the right approach. This video shares four things that must be in place for fasting to work for you.

  • This was brief, but inforrmative. I like that its only talking and no background music or other distractions. ❤

    • In the USA we have Club Soda and we have Tonic Water. Club Soda is sugar and carb free, where as Tonic Water can have 30 or more grams of sugar….

  • Would you please address taking prescription medication during fasting? I have one that I need to take before bedtime and the instructions are to take it with food.

  • Get to the point that you eat no sugar and drink only water and eventually one meal a day is really not any problem. Cravings can take a very long time to get rid of. It took me well over a year, but at 3 now I do not react to smells of foods. I eat when hungry, eat till full, and live life. It tends to be one meal a day, but if I get hungry and eat twice, no big deal. I find one meal a day far better than trying to restrict. “Calories’ have not seemed to mean much of anything compared to letting insulin fall for long periods of time. My one meal usually has more ‘calories’ than my two or three did before, yet I lose fat anyway. Either way, stick to it and it all gets better! Good luck!

  • I agree that I can, and I have trained my brain to not feel hangry before I am ready to break fast. I do a 16/8 IF routine, but it’s not always on the clock. Sometimes, depending on my busy days, I might have my last meal between 5 – 7 p.m., so I break my fast between 9 – 11 a.m., accordingly. Sometimes I even manage to eat my first meal even later; by noon or 1 p.m.

  • Fasting should be easy for most people, because you are sleeping through most of it, especially if you are getting 8 hours sleep. Drink lots of water and keep junk food out of your home.

  • hallo….I’m happy with my weight…I’ve started eating keto for health’s sake…can fasting be good even if you don’t need to lose weight?

  • LMNT works great for me! I had really bad dry mouth and now it is better. I have tried many brands and i prefer this one. For 3 years i no longer eat after my last meal. I do not miss evening snacking and i do not get hungry. I have never had the desire to fast more then 12 hours. I like your ten minute helper. The only way to take off weight is patience with oneself while learning to let go of the hunger monster. It is possible and maybe 10 min at a time. Tiny successes make goals.
