1960’s Oldies but Goodies Walking Workout | Fun Exercise for Seniors and Beginners | Improved Health

Happy New Year everyone! This is a 1960's oldies but goodies walking exercise program geared to kickstart your fitness now that the New Year is here. Today we will do 23 minutes of a walking workout, 4 minutes of basic strength training and 5 minutes of stretching. Each day of the 7 day program is going to be designed differently to give you a full body workout. If you want to improve your strength, fitness, balance and flexibility (while having fun), then this is for you! I listened to a ton of music from the 1960's to find the most upbeat, fun music I could find for you. I had fun creating the workout so I sure hope you enjoy it, too!

The total steps during the cardio portion is 2675 steps. Please have weights handy for the strength training portion and a chair available for stretching. As always, this is low impact. Please use your judgment on when to modify exercises. If you feel a move isn't good for you, please change the exercise to a move that is more suitable for you.

If you enjoyed the workout, please hit the like button (thumbs up) and write a comment! All of your thumbs up and comments tell the YouTube algorithms that you enjoyed the workout so that way it will get 'out there' more, and more people will be able to discover the workout. If you want to see more of these workouts, please hit the subscribe button and ensure you turn your notifications on so you see future videos from this channel (to turn notifications on, hit the bell beside the subscribe button).

Thank you so much for all of your support. Wishing you improved health,
Jules

  • AWESOME!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! Because the music brought up so many wonderful memories, it didn’t feel like a workout but I was sweating. I went back to the days of me in my bedroom blasting records and singing to the top of my lungs. How my parents put up with it, I’ll never know. Then it brought up memories of my favorite movie “Dirty Dancing” and who couldn’t love dancing with Patrick Swayze. Then I was shouting SWEET CAROLINE bum bum bum! And of course, What a Wonderful World. Thanks Jules for making it a Wonderful World with your inspiring exercise programs and the positive and motivational messages throughout the workouts. You last message touched me deeply. THANK YOU from the bottom of my HEART!

    • Well Carrie, you had me smiling the entire time as I read your comment. I love how these songs bring back memories for you and others. Wishing you a safe and healthy year ahead. Big hugs to you and thank YOU for all your comments and support. 💖

  • Thank you for another fun workout! 😊 Love the choices of music especially the Jackson 5! Happy New Year to you! 🎊

  • This was so much fun! Loved the music! Reminded me of my childhood. Thank you for a wonderful workout. The words at the end are inspiring and a message that was needed today. Thank you sooo much!

  • WOW! My wife and I 60years+ just started looking through various low impact cardio workouts this week and came across yours. Well, we have been doing one of your workouts each day and this one was today. By far our favorite one to this point but everyone of them have been just perfect for our bodies and age. Thank you so much for such great workouts that are easy on the body! God Bless and have a great day! Mike and Connie from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

    • First of all…YAY to a couple working out TOGETHER! That definitely makes me smile! It’s rare for me to have a male viewer comment so again…YAY! Thank you for taking the time to comment about your experience with the workouts. All of my workouts are low impact and I intend on keeping it that way since I know so many people have difficulties with knee pain, osteoarthritis and the list goes on and on. Thanks so much, Mike (and Connie) and I hope you continue to enjoy my workouts as you get through them. 💗

  • WOW, my wife and I, in our 70’s had a great time with your super workout! You are doing such a great service to us oldies!

  • Thank you so much for creating your exercise videos! Especially for we old timers who are familiar with the music, it is a real day brightener and mood lifter. The time goes so quickly, and it feels so good to get up and get some of those little used muscles moving. The benefits of exercise, music, good health and all things good are enless. Thank you and God bless.

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Sandra. I am very happy to read the various benefits this workout provides for you:) 💗

  • Love this so much! Exercising for me is enjoyable, but when you add great music, it’s THE BEST!! Thanks for putting together such fun and effective workouts. I’m 5 weeks post rotator cuff surgery. Wanted some movement that is not too strenuous, but gets my heart rate and energy up. Your workouts have saved me! Keep ’em coming- especially with this kind of music, please.

    • It’s great that you’re able to exercise after the surgery. I would love to use the popular music all the time but using copyrighted music is complicated. I’ve explained it a bit more in my newest 80’s video.

  • Just did the workout today. The music and the exercises went so well together. Found myself singing along! Thank you for the mood boosting workout. Hope to do the others in the series.

  • I was going to skip my workout for today, but then I found this video and thought I would give it a go. WOW! This is the most fun I’ve had doing a workout. It is “easy,” but I’m also sweating a lot! Love, love it. Thank you for creating this workout for us!

    • Aww, thank you so much for letting me know that you really enjoyed the workout. Your comment means a lot. Thank you!!!

  • So I tried this one today! My legs didn’t go up as high as yours, and I had to modify the V step to an out/out-in/in, and I was sweating and breathing hard, BUT I did it!!!!
I’m on my way to a comeback!!
    It feels so good!!!

  • Thank you for this video. This workout was perfect for my Day 1. Loved the music and I think great music is a great motivator. Can’t wait to workout with you tomorrow!

  • Jules, thank you so much!! I have a knee replacement and you exercises are perfect. Love the music and your sparklie ☆☆☆ personality. Thank you ♡♡

  • I am a little surpised that I finished this workout because the temperature outside was 109, and I was out running around a big part of the day! I really wasn’t planning to work out but the urge hit me and before I knew it, there I was dancing to 60’s music. Thanks to you, Jules!

  • What a great and fun workout! Effective and gentle movements that made me sweat! This 70 yr old great-grandmother was able to do it and pretty much keep up – and I enjoyed being able to sing along with the songs and remembered almost all the words to most of the songs 😉! Thank you so much for putting this workout together – I’ll be doing it again!

    • I’m so glad that you enjoyed it, Denise. Kudos to you for keeping yourself active so you can be around for a long time for your great-grandchildren. ❤️

  • I’m 55 with Early onset Parkinsons, dx at 37. Your workouts are simple enough for me to follow, and give me good physiotherapy for my coordination as well as the cardio exercise, stretching and strength training that I must continue to do every day to stave off this disease.
I go to the Rec room and do your workouts every day! Thanks

    • Thanks so much for taking the time to write. I love that you are doing everything you can to slow the progression and I am thrilled to read that my workouts help. 💝

  • Thank you! Sincerely thank you! I feel alive again! It’s been many years since I could do any type of dance workout. Yours are perfect because they don’t require a gym/dance studio floor to do. Many require a lot of space but your workouts are easy to do in my living room with limited floor space! I’m doing one every day!

    • Aww, thank you so much for sharing your progress with me. I am thrilled to read that you are exercising regularly and most importantly, enjoying it. It is amazing how exercise makes us feel alive. I’m so glad you are feeling the benefits.♥️
