Will a core exercise target love handles? It doesn't target fat burning. To do that you need a strong core that allows you to go faster (doing intervals), lift heavier or more repetitions (during strength training), and be active more all day (called non-exercise-activity-time) .. PLUS, you need to learn to put your body into a fat burning (not fat storage) mode all day – not just when exercising.

When you strengthen muscles you will find the fat less evident and the muscle is what determines shape, all the while being more metabolically active (burning calories all day) for you.
