  • I stopped smoking 6 years ago and all my friends told me that they never thought that I could manage it🙄 but I made it and I am so proud of me.

  • I would love a video on anxiety in general and how it changed with perimenopause/menopause. I have been experiencing overwhelming anxiety plus lost a parent a year ago and am helping to care for my father who is struggling with the loss so I would love to hear what other women in their 50’s are struggling with themselves and with family. I love your story, videos and workouts!

    • Hi Colleen. I feel your pain. I too struggle with anxiety. I also care for a parent who has dementia, along with many other health issues. It is very hard when you don’t have the support you need from your family. I wish you the best of luck with your father and dealing with your anxiety. I take one day at a time. I agree. It would be nice to get a video and some words of wisdom from Pahla. Hugs

    • carrie bond My mother had Alzheimer’s so I know what you are going through. Be sure to take care of yourself as much as you can…I can’t even take a lot of credit for much of my mother’s caretaking but even the little that I did was very…difficult. The one positive in it for me was that we didn’t get along in previous years but there was a sweet spot of time that she became child like and very pleasant and I’m grateful I got that. Take care!

    • Pahla B Fitness Thanks Pahla…I truly appreciate you and your videos…especially that you don’t make me do burpees 😊 that whole getting down and back up…just can’t do it so well anymore. Looking forward to catching up on all the videos I’ve missed and future ones!

  • I have NEVER commented to anyone on social media before, but was moved to do so because your message truly hit home. Thank you for opening up.

  • We are both in our 80’s and still believe in having a strong body and a calm mind. This was an excellent video and we learned a lot. We are doing research for our new YT channel that is all about healthy aging. Thank you so much and keep up the great work!

  • My first menopause symptom was chronic anxiety that crippled me, no one ever tells you this. I too have given up caffeine but I’m still too hard on myself. Glad it’s not just me!

    • My first symptoms were a dramatic increase in anxiety, and insomnia. I had no CLUE they were related to menopause and it took months and countless doctor visits to get help.

    • They never mentioned chronic rash and hives that appears out of no where especially if you are stressed and then it dissapeared a few minutes later but worse part is that it burns before it starts that’s how I know where it will attack me some days it’s my arms my face my legs or my back. This is horrible and scary

  • Best thing I gave up social media, Instagram , Twitter, Facebook. Freedom & time to do things that bring me joy not things that bring me down. Good to hear other people’s struggles 👍

    • @serena koleno don’t have to take anyone of it there all my close friends on it happy to be in touch with others that have the same learning disabilities as you thats my reason to stay on it

    • I feel so much better without Facebook and Twitter. I enjoy living so much more without sharing every second with the world. It feels more sacred and peaceful to just be with who I’m with and not worry about an online life.

  • Pahla,I just love your honesty. Love your exercises and your mentoring. Keep on keeping on. You have been my fitness guide through most of 2020 thank you🌷💕❤️

  • The anxiety in perimenopause was very sudden and very scary for me for sure. I had no idea it was a symptom which made it even more worrisome and overwhelming. You always hear about the hot flashes and the crazy cycles and even the brain fog but I’ve never heard of anxiety. We need to talk about this more! Thx Pahla for sharing.

  • Negative self talk is second nature to me. It starts the second I wake up. I try to remind myself not to speak to myself in a way I wouldn’t talk to a friend. It’s tough.

    • Since I started taking iodine the lifelong negative self talk went away. Read Iodine Crisis. Most Westerners are extremely deficient in iodine. Take care of yourself. ❤️

    • I tend to have those negative talks too. Even before watching this, I would remind myself that maybe what I did wasn’t the smartest move, but it didn’t mean I was stupid. I liked her note on the computer as a reminder…I’m going to do that now.

    • the best way to stop negative thoughts is to redirect to positive thoughts, if you tell yourself to stop thinking negative thoughts you will ironically think more! Accept that we all do it and start practicing positive thoughts.

  • Giving up (it’s a process) the “shoulds.” Someone once told me to stop “shoulding” on myself and, let me tell you, it’s a hard habit to break. By the way, I just discovered you last night and I’m hooked. You’re so wonderfully normal and relatable! I started the 31 day challenge and look forward to seeing more videos. Thank you for your integrity.

  • I’m in the process of giving up over-eating. Doing it through counting calories and absolutely measuring everything. And it’s working. Last year I “gave up” letting the dishes pile up. I’ve done my dishes at least once daily for six months now. This was a great video. And I’ve given up a lot of negative self-talk over the past couple of years. I’ve given up guilt, too.

  • I would love to hear more about anxiety.
3 years ago I ended up with anxiety so severe I could not leave the house. I was put on antidepressants which did little to help. Coincidentally at the same time I was diagnosed with stage 4 (severe) endometriosis and put on hormones to help with that and wouldn’t you know it my anxiety improved!
Earlier this year I had a hysterectomy (leaving my ovaries) and as a result came off of the hormones I was taking. I’m noticing my anxiety is coming back. I’m trialling some natural products as don’t want the side effects that come with both antidepressants and hormones

  • Paula, I love your energy! I just recently found you and have been enjoying your videos. I feel like I am on the same type of journey….peace, health, and joy! At 60 I have about 30-40 pounds to lose and I have tried all the deprivation and unattainable fitness routines. I too want to learn to love myself and treat myself with kindness. Boundaries are a huge part of that and detaching from social media etc. is a good thing. Keep being a voice of hope and kindness! Thank you!!

  • I just found your video on YouTube and it’s literally God sent. I am always calling myself stupid without giving a second thought about it but hearing your talk has woken me to the fact that I need to respect myself more and also I have anxiety issues. So one thing leads to another and I end up feeling depressed. Thanks for this and God bless you ❤️

  • I’ve given up recently watching the news from start to finish. I enjoy the weather part, traffic an fun segments they do. I’ve been able to manage the anxiety, and mental chatter in 2021.
I gave up relying on people for my happiness. Growing up, raising my children etc. I had this idea that my happiness was about family and friends validating me….NOT it’s about me loving myself
period…now I’m listening to Phala b knowing I’m on the right path of this 🎉new🎉 me at 55.😊

  • I got this from Carolyn Myss – I gave up the desire to live someone else’s dream! Keep posting these videos – you are helping a lot of us 50+ women!

  • I gave up FB, Twitter, never was on Instagram. Gave up MSM. Quit caffeine in June 2021. I grew up in the 80’s…the simple life is underrated 😀. I do feel more centered this past year. Feeling grateful. Hope your day is a lovely one 🙏🏽❤️

  • Just found your channel and I’m soooooo glad I did. Started with one of your exercise videos, and now I’m watching this one. THANK YOU. This is all exactly what I needed at this point in my life.
